The Truddu Susumaniello Rosso, Like a tale shrouded in mystery, slowly unravels, revealing layers of depth and complexity.

T he Truddu Susumaniello Rosso is a precious gem of Alto Salento, an authentic expression of its generous lands and Mediterranean climate. The vines, cultivated with care and dedication for about 22 years, bear witness to the region's long history of winemaking and carry with them the unique essence of Susumaniello, an indigenous grape variety that finds its fullest expression in these lands.

Grape harvesting is a moment of great importance, with carefully selected bunches of grapes delicately picked into 5 kg crates. The grapes are then left to ripen in the fruttaio for about 20 days, at a temperature of 15°C, where they undergo a light drying process that concentrates all the varietal aromas and natural antioxidant polyphenolic compounds, following a technique similar to that used in the Amarone area.

After this drying phase, the grapes are crushed and left to macerate and ferment for another 25 days at a controlled temperature, allowing a slow and delicate extraction of the flavors and aromas intrinsic to Susumaniello. This is followed by a long period of aging in new French oak tonneaux and steel, where the wine develops its complexity and unique structure.

The result is an intense red wine with enveloping notes of berries and sweet spices on the nose, followed by elegant balsamic hints. The taste is assertive, fresh and elegant, with a power that blends harmoniously with a delicate freshness. Truddu Susumaniello Rosso is the perfect companion for moments of meditation and introspection, but also an excellent match for red meats and aged cheeses, where its complexity and structure can fully express themselves.

With a serving temperature between 16 and 18°C, this wine gradually opens in the glass, revealing layers of aromas and nuances that invite the taster on a sensory journey through the sun-kissed hills of Alto Salento, a land rich in history, passion and tradition.
